Look at the early Interceptor III, which is probably the most widely known and recognized Jensen found on roads today. In its final form, the Interceptor III represented the pinnacle of Jensen car development. For those thinking about buying a Jensen today, these cars epitomize what Jensen motoring was all about. The Interceptor III made its debut at the October 1971 Earls Court Motor Show alongside the SP and FF III. By that stage, Interceptor IIIs had been in production for a couple of months and the first examples were already in showrooms across the United States and Britain. The event was significant because it marked the first official new model releases under Kjell Qvale, the American importer and British car dealer who had taken control of Jensen Motors in 1970. The transition to the Series III was a gradual process with nothing like the leap in design which marked the transition from the Series I to the Series II in 1969. This means that the early IIIs are very much like the late IIs, the most obvious differences being the interiors and the wheels. In the transmission department, nothing was any different. No manual shifters had been supplied since the last of Series Is in 1969 so all III's came with TorqueFlites. The Mark III, introduced in 1971, revised the front grille, headlamp finishers and bumper treatment again. It had GKN alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard, and revised seats. It was divided into G-, H-, and J-series depending on the production year. The 6.3-liter 383ci engine was superseded by the 7.2-liter 440ci in 1971. For VIN prefix 133, LHD drive, Interceptor III series G and H there were only 368 built. AC was recently serviced, and an MSD high performance distributor, FiTech fuel injectors and a new fuel tank were added. Options that are standard for this Jensen are air-conditioning, the Sundym glass and the Town & Country air horns. The other main extras — the vinyl roof, the stereo tape player, the whitewall tires, driver's door mirror, rear seat belts and the fog and spot lamps — all remained electives. Special paint and trim could be specified at extra cost. Woodgrain console and gearshift panels, frequently found on US and European cars. Consignor had the driver and passenger front seats, door panels, and top re-upholstered earlier in 2022. Rear seats and carpet appear to be original. There was an incredible range of colors on the Interceptor III; of all the models made over the years by Jensen's, the Interceptor III displayed by far the greatest range of colors. This Jensen was done in Moss Green and a little history shows that only 40 were made in his color (this one did have a recent respray in 2022).
